KAU Employees Union (KAUEU)
Kerala Agricultural University Employees' Union, formed on 1st May 1973, is the pro-Congress service organisation of the non teaching staff of Kerala Agricultural University. Sri. K.M.N. Kartha pioneered the formation, due to the undemocratic, and unruly monopolistic attitude of the lone pro marxist left organisation existed in the University.
Union could behold its entity all these forty five years, due to its sincerity and perseverance in attaining the legitimate needs and rights of its members in particular and the non teaching staff of the University in general. Majority of the benefits, now being enjoyed by the non teaching staff of the University are the fruits of the relentless struggle, led by this unique organisation.
Even at times of the UDF regime in the state, Union never hesitated to go on strike, when the rights of the employees have been hampered - the historical strike, which elongated for 32 days in 2001 when Sri. A.K. Antony led UDF ministry was in power in the state, is a typical example.
Union, we have in the present strength and goodwill, is due to the incessant works of the sincere and selfless leaders like Sri. V. Balagopalan, Sri. T.K. Mithran, Sri. V.S. Skandakumar, Sri. S. Sudhakaran Nair, Sri.K.K.Damodaran, Sri. K.I. Chakkunni, Sri. K. Gireendrababu and many other beloved leaders.
If we are able to keep in the string, about 63 of the non teaching categories untaunted, their contributions and teachings have a stronghold in the organisation even now. Let us remember their perseverance, contributions and the do's and do'nts they taught us and lead this unique organisation live long and stronger to keep the promises to the generations to come.
